Old Cat, New Cat

ket-cica-egy-kepenExcitement towards adding a new cat to your home from your side is not questionable, however, for the cat you already own it can be very frustrating. As most cats are solitary by nature, it will take some time to accept or eventually tolerate any additions.  Cats can be very territorial, which is why you should always be careful when you introduce a new cat to your current cat.

Temperament and personality are two characteristics that will affect the way the cats will accept each other.  When you introduce a new cat to your current cat, you should always make sure that you give your current cat plenty of love and attention.  Continue doing the same things with your current cat as he/she is used to.  This way, your cat will feel secure and know that he/she isn’t in competition with your new cat for affection.

Introduce things you used to do with your current cat to the new cat step by step.  Feeding them at the same time, playing with them together, taking them out for a walk simultaneously are important to keep them both happy and healthy.

Reinforcements in Cats

macska-hintanI think we all agree that our home is more complete if we have a four legged pet there to greet us after a hard day at work or snuggle up to us while we sleep.  Cats are fickle as well as sweet, lovable creatures.  Most cats recognize their owners by the sound of their voice, the car they drive, and who spoils them the most.  Like dogs, cats can be trained too.  A cat can be trained to come to your call, to bring their toys when they want to play, to go for a walk on a leash or in a cat stroller, as well as more domestic issues such as using a litter box.  The key to training a cat or kitten is reinforcement.

It is typically wise to start out reinforcement with a kitten, but it can be introduced any time in a cat’s life.  Cats are very good in distinguishing tones of your voice, not the words though.  They will know they have done something right/wrong just by the tone of voice you use.  Reinforcement is either positive (hugs, petting, treats, play) or negative (water, raised voice).  Positive reinforcement will make them do things by their own.  If you make them used to something they like, they will keep coming back and “demanding” it from you.   And the way they show appreciation is something that soon you will be aiming for.

No more hassle

dog-carrier-bagWhy would an average pet parent need a pet carrier?

You do need a pet carrier if you have a cat or dog that travels with you.  While driving you do not want your pet moving around the car.  This is very dangerous for you, your pet and other drivers.

3 in 1 pet carriers are an ideal option for traveling with cats and small dogs.   They act as a stroller, carrier and a car seat, providing protection, and a reassuring space for the pet within the vehicle, train or airplane.  Pets are more relaxed in their own safe and secure den which the pet carrier can provide.  When you arrive at your destination you will have a happier and more relaxed pet,  so consider your pet and get him/her a pet carrier.

Prices on pet carriers will vary widely depending upon the size, material and quality of the pet carrier.  For further items and options, visit our website at www.PetsStrollers.com and browse through our wide selection of pet carriers.

pg8500baIf you own a dog then you’ll know that their unconditional love towards you is something that can’t be measured.  They expect you to be around all the time without getting bored of your presence, no matter for how long you are together.  They would never let you down and be by your side wherever or whenever you want them to be, no matter how you look or what mood you might be in.  They would stay awake with you all night and protect you no matter what.   They would miss you when you are not around and go crazy in your absence.   All these characteristics describe a perfect Valentine and you are lucky enough to have one.

The amount of love your pet dog gives you in return of a little attention is something everybody wishes to have.  For your dog there are only two things important in this world, one is you and the other is food.   Food is just a natural instinct, but it is You who plays an important role in your pet’s life.  You are its everything.

There is something that you can do to show them your love.  As Valentine’s day is going to be soon at your door step, if there is someone worth for you to gift, it is your pet dog.  There are a wide variety of gifts available for your beloved four legged friend on the market.  Go online and shop for them.  Choose a lavish gift or settle for a simple one.  Lavish them with something new and unique that he/she didn’t even dream about.  Consider a new, large 3 in 1 dog stroller/carrier as most dogs love car drives.  You can let them tag along for a long drive, sitting beside you and having the time of their life.  So go ahead, use your ideas to please your faithful best friend on this Valentine Day.

twin-pet-stroller-blueAnimal lovers doubtlessly spoil their pets whenever they can.  For most pet owners, taking care of a cat, dog or other small animals that they love is already a joy in itself, and they constantly seek ways to pamper their furry friends.  The love we feel for our four legged partners, the fact that we are thankful and appreciative for their companionship and contributions to the family, make us continuously find ways to return the affection.  Purchasing special pet accessories, so that their comfort is prioritized above all things, is something we are always looking for.

An example of a special pet accessory worth getting is a pet stroller.  Whether two, three or four wheeled stroller, this product is fun and easy to use.   Most of the strollers are foldable, light weight, and come in many different colors and shapes.  If you have not one but two dogs or cats, you can still have a stroller made just for this, the double-deck stroller or the twin stroller allowing you to carry two pets at the same time.  Check out the wide variety of these cat and dog carriers at PetsStrollers.com and pamper your pet the way you never did before.

royale_onetouchMovement and curiosity are basic life qualities of a cat.  Cats like to wander and explore the outside world and so do we humans.  The cat stroller is certainly one of today’s novelties that enable men and their feline friends to share the joys of a wandering stroll whether it is along the city sidewalks or in the great outdoors.

Any cat, healthy, sick, injured or aged can enjoy the advantages of a stroller.  Getting to see the outside world can and will therefore offer them the best therapy for recovery or at least will make them comfortable and happy.   Cat strollers come in various sizes, colors, shapes and utilities.   For instance, speaking of utility, there are double deck strollers and twin strollers that can accommodate two cats at the same time.  Or the 3 in 1 strollers will allow you to use the carrier as a car seat when you are on the move.   All the strollers have comfortable rest and sleep space and can be conveniently stroll-pushed along city sidewalks or on country paths.

Check out the wide variety of cat strollers and their features on our website at www.PetsStrollers.com and look out for our specials on several various models.

Before vacation

s1202_redCouple of things to keep in mind if you’re thinking of taking your pet along with you on a trip.  First of all, make sure that pets are allowed wherever you are planning to stay.  Specify that you are traveling with a dog or a cat as different rules apply to different pets.  The “pets allowed” does not always reflect the fact that your cat can stay with you unless in a large case or not at all.

Before you leave, make sure you do a few essential things.  Pack a photograph of your pet, just in case they get lost, check their tag for identification, as details of your name, address and phone number should be accurate in case you need to be contacted.   Take them to the vet and make sure they are up-to-date with all the shots,  and also carry proof of their shots - you might need them as some places ask for proof of the latest rabies shot.

Try to make them get used to the leash and harness for longer periods of time.  Or if you like so, make them used to pet gears to sit still in them for extended periods of time.   Take them for longer drives so they get used to the idea of sitting still when traveling.   It is always safer to make sure your pet is well secured while in a vehicle, therefore consider the use of a pet carrier on the back seat, buckled in, in which they can be safe.

Taking those safety precautions will make your trip worry free and more enjoyable.

Carrying for your Cat

sporty-pet-jogger-pinkPlaytime is just as important to the overall wellbeing of your cat as a trip to the vet.  There is no need to spend a lot of money on cat toys.  Most of the time, your cat will find many things in your house to play with.   Whether you spend a lot of money on the toy or not, it won’t make a difference.  Why buy an expensive toy when you have so many free options readily available?

Cats love to climb and rest in places where they can see outside.   A sunny window could be their favourite place, and if the windows are high, the cat gets some well-needed exercise jumping from shelf to shelf to get to their spot.   Cats also love boxes.  Much like children, a cat can occupy itself for hours playing with a box.   You can cut holes in it, line it with carpeting or old towels, and your new kitten will love it.   Take a few boxes, tape them together, and build your cat a fort. Catnip toys are easy to make too.  All you need is a little bit of cloth or furry material to sew into a pouch.  Fill it with catnip and stitch some Velcro on to hold it closed.  You can make it into a size and shape that appeals to your cat.  Don’t worry, catnip is perfectly safe for your cat to enjoy.  And if you have one of those laser pointers, your cat will enjoy chasing it. Just make sure that you don’t shine the laser directly into your cat’s eyes.

Toys don’t have to be fancy or expensive at all and aren’t a reflection of your level of cat care.  The only investment required is your time.   And if your cat loves to be outside, take the time and go for a walk with them.  A pet carrier can be a perfect gift for them.  Fresh air, new smells, animals around, it is a lot of excitement for your cat.
