Before vacation

s1202_redCouple of things to keep in mind if you’re thinking of taking your pet along with you on a trip. First of all, make sure that pets are allowed wherever you are planning to stay. Specify that you are traveling with a dog or a cat as different rules apply to different pets. The “pets allowed” does not always reflect the fact that your cat can stay with you unless in a large case or not at all.

Before you leave, make sure you do a few essential things. Pack a photograph of your pet, just in case they get lost, check their tag for identification, as details of your name, address and phone number should be accurate in case you need to be contacted. Take them to the vet and make sure they are up-to-date with all the shots, and also carry proof of their shots – you might need them as some places ask for proof of the latest rabies shot.

Try to make them get used to the leash and harness for longer periods of time. Or if you like so, make them used to pet gears to sit still in them for extended periods of time. Take them for longer drives so they get used to the idea of sitting still when traveling. It is always safer to make sure your pet is well secured while in a vehicle, therefore consider the use of a pet carrier on the back seat, buckled in, in which they can be safe.

Taking those safety precautions will make your trip worry free and more enjoyable.

Carrying for your Cat

sporty-pet-jogger-pinkPlaytime is just as important to the overall wellbeing of your cat as a trip to the vet. There is no need to spend a lot of money on cat toys. Most of the time, your cat will find many things in your house to play with. Whether you spend a lot of money on the toy or not, it won’t make a difference. Why buy an expensive toy when you have so many free options readily available?

Cats love to climb and rest in places where they can see outside. A sunny window could be their favourite place, and if the windows are high, the cat gets some well-needed exercise jumping from shelf to shelf to get to their spot. Cats also love boxes. Much like children, a cat can occupy itself for hours playing with a box. You can cut holes in it, line it with carpeting or old towels, and your new kitten will love it. Take a few boxes, tape them together, and build your cat a fort. Catnip toys are easy to make too. All you need is a little bit of cloth or furry material to sew into a pouch. Fill it with catnip and stitch some Velcro on to hold it closed. You can make it into a size and shape that appeals to your cat. Don’t worry, catnip is perfectly safe for your cat to enjoy. And if you have one of those laser pointers, your cat will enjoy chasing it. Just make sure that you don’t shine the laser directly into your cat’s eyes.

Toys don’t have to be fancy or expensive at all and aren’t a reflection of your level of cat care. The only investment required is your time. And if your cat loves to be outside, take the time and go for a walk with them. A pet carrier can be a perfect gift for them. Fresh air, new smells, animals around, it is a lot of excitement for your cat.

Anomalous Behaviour

pink-picture-for-blog-16I recently told my father about a stroll in the park I took with my cat Diva in her new pink pet stroller and his reaction was somewhat surprising. He wanted to know if I had recently suffered some head trauma that was affecting my mental abilities. In short he thought I was crazy.

To understand his reaction you first need to know something about my father.

My father lives in Hungary on a small farm and loves animals. He has had both dogs and cats all his life, but because he lives in the countryside he has never had to worry about the dangers faced by pets living in a large metropolitan city. His pets have always been able to roam freely without fear of getting hit by a vehicle. Unfortunately that isn’t the case for Diva and I.

I live near a busy intersection within a large metropolitan city. Cars, trucks and buses are a constant presents in my life and I wouldn’t know what to do if something ever happened to Diva while we were out and about.

So while my father may think I’m crazy, I think I’m perfectly sane. My investment in a cat stroller has reduced the stress in my life and we all know that stress can make you a little crazy sometimes.

Maintaining your pet stroller

pg8800bgYou probably consider your pet stroller like most people do as a luxury item. However, you can’t disregard the fact that pet strollers can bring a lot of benefits and advantages to your beloved friends. In many different situations, these carriers can make your life and your dogs’ life easier. Once in the dog stroller, pets are safe and comfortable, ready to go along with you wherever and whenever.

Several small maintenance advices are always welcomed. First of all, when you put your dog inside a stroller, make sure that you trim its nails or claws not to get stuck in the net. Also, pet strollers get dirty through time, so it is a must to clean and wash them on a regular basis. Ensure that your dog’s weight matches the size or model of the carrier. Check the stroller’s weight capacity to ensure that it can fully support your dog. Don’t forget that puppies do grow eventually, so try to think ahead when making a selection. Check the road conditions and even though some of the strollers are designed for rougher terrain, try to refrain from going through places that can cause damage to the stroller and even your dog. By following the above mentioned tips, you will be able to maintain your dog strollers in great shape for a long time.

Kodak Moment

tl8100pkI was recently stopped by a neighbor while out for a walk with my pet stroller and congratulated on the new addition to my family. I was thankful for the attention, but when she then said she didn’t even realize I had been pregnant I couldn’t help but smile especially when the next sound we both heard was a loud meow coming from the stroller.

As my precious Diva meowed my only thought was where is my camera when I need it most because the expression on my neighbors face was priceless.

This wasn’t the first time that someone had approached me while I was out and about with my pink pet stroller, but it certainly was the strangest reaction I had ever encountered and made me wonder if anyone else who has a pet stroller has ever been approached in a similar manner.

I would love to hear from fellow pet stroller owners about your very own Kodak Moment and if you have any pictures to share I would love to see them.

pg8250rbPet strollers are just like your pet. They come in a variety of sizes and shapes just like your beloved friend.

Three wheeled or four wheeled strollers for heavier pets. These strollers typically have larger wheels and the front wheels have shock absorbers to make the ride smoother. The basket is spacious making for easy of movement and they include lots of storage space for water and treats. They are easy to clean and maintain as well and fold for ease of storage. Some of our carriages have a conventional carriage look while others have a more elegant look. Even though these pet strollers are developed for lighter, smaller animals they will have the same durability and functionality as for the ones for larger dogs. If you have two pets why not consider one of our fabulous Double Decker Pet Strollers. They are designed with separate carriages so each pet can have its own space and privacy.

Pet strollers are becoming more and more popular so why not consider purchasing one for yourself or someone you know that has a pet. We at PetsStrollers.com offer a wide variety of strollers in different sizes, color, design and price depending on your budget. We even offer a unique three in one pet stroller that is a carrier, a stroller, and a car seat all in one.

Toting a Cat to the Vet in Comfort and Style

cat-carriers

Ever since his first visit to the vet’s office five years ago, our family cat Buster has been fighting us every inch of the way when we try to corral him in a cat carrier. He seems to anticipate the impending vet visit at least an hour in advance because he goes into hiding under a dresser or in the tiny crevice between the refrigerator and the kitchen cabinets. The normally friendly and subdued cat will yowl and scratch in an attempt to get away, and in some cases getting a him to cooperate is practically impossible.

Last year I decided to try out a few different cat carriers to see if any of them suited his fancy. I found a stylish backpack model that’s as portable as it is attractive. Even though the cat still resents every trip to the vet – he knows all about the invasive procedures that take place there – the experience is much more pleasant for my wife and me. Rather than hauling around a bulky plastic carrier, we can maneuver the cat around in a discreet, well-ventilated book bag.
